GETTING STARTED KIT

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Private sessions are completely customised for you. They offer a convenient way to practice Breathwork according to your individual goals and requirements, schedule, and location, allowing for personalised and unique attention. Inquiries can be made via Email.

GROUP SESSIONS

All sessions are open to all but require prior registration. Beginners, as well as advanced breathers, are welcome. Teaching language (English or German) is listed in the details of the respective class.

MEET YOUR GUIDE

Amelie Mettenheimer is a Breathwork facilitator and healer. Through her work, she guides you to turn within, to unlock your heart, and revive the relationship with yourself. In the sessions and retreats, she enables her clients to find the answers they seek by connecting with their innate wisdom.


She believes we all have the ability to reach freedom from the limiting beliefs and the stories that run our lives. By somatically releasing the trapped experiences in the emotional body and nervous system you can heal those wounds and reach your bliss.


Amelie has been featured by SuperShe, Women’s Health Live, and WFTV among others. She currently travels the world with her private practice.

WHAT IS BREATHWORK ANYWAY?

IT'S ALL IN THE SCIENCE

The body and mind are complex systems, but they can be manipulated.


You have most likely heard of the fight or flight response. That is what happens when our sympathetic nervous system is activated by stress. It's a survival mechanism designed to prepare you to fight by increasing your heart rate, blood pressure, blood sugar, and dilating your pupils.


The calming response in return is managed by your parasympathetic nervous system. Also known as rest and digest, its job is to lower the heart rate and blood pressure as well as promote digestion and the uptake of nutrients.


Within the parasympathetic nervous system is the vagus nerve, which connects your brain stem to the entire body. This nerve is what rules your mind and body.


By actively working with the breath and the movements of your diaphragm you can override the stress and anxiety in your system and the vagus nerve will carry that relaxation signal to the entire body.


Through Breathwork and the breathing pattern of inhaling twice and exhaling once, you activate the phrenic nerve. That nerve communicates directly with the diaphragm. When activated it brings in more oxygen into the lungs and causes a balancing of the ratio of carbon dioxide and oxygen in your bloodstream and lungs. It's nature's way of letting your nervous system know that it is safe and can calm down.


Long story short, Breathwork can be used to reduce the stress and anxiety response in your body.
